WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

The breastfeeding peer counselor is responsible for supporting and providing breastfeeding information and encouragement to wic pregnant and breastfeeding women, including completing required training and maintaining client records. This role involves ensuring availability to clients via phone, making timely referrals when issues exceed the peer scope, and assisting with breastfeeding promotion activities.

Candidates must possess a high school or ged diploma along with previous or current breastfeeding experience with at least one baby for a minimum of six months, preferably being a previous wic participant. Essential requirements include maintaining cpr certification, undergoing annual tb tests and flu shots, and demonstrating patience and empathy when dealing with multicultural clientele.
