  • Summary: This position is an RN responsible for providing direct care to patients living with diabetes and their caregivers seen in the hospital and any out-patient clinic where these patients are seen under the care of a Cook clinical provider. This person enhances the quality of patient care by providing specialized diabetic education, in-service, and continuing education programs for patients/families and the nursing staff.

Education

  • BSN preferred. Three years clinical experience; pediatric preferred Organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the principles of endocrine nursing.
  • Certification/Licensure: Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES; formerly Certified Diabetes Educator CDE) eligible preferred, with certification expected after 3 years in role.
