Core responsibilities

The diabetes educator assists with daily assessment of in-Patient and out-Patient needs related to diabetes patient education, conducts initial and ongoing staff training, and coordinates, implements, and evaluates specific diabetes education programs. This role also ensures nursing staff are oriented to diabetes standards of care, scope of practice, policies, and equipment used in routine patient care.

Requirements summary

Candidates must possess a current and valid rn or rd license, a current bls (Aha) certificate, and a minimum of three years of experience in an acute care hospital environment. A bachelor of science in nursing or master of science in nutrition is preferred, along with excellent clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
