Head Start Assistant Teacher

The assistant teacher supports the head start classroom teacher by participating in daily preschool activities, preparing indoor and outdoor tasks, executing age-Appropriate educational duties, and aiding with meal distribution. This role also involves contributing to written records and integrating all head start elements to enhance children's health, nutrition, education, safety, and well-Being.

Candidates must possess an associate or baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 12 ece credits, or a child development associate (Cda) credential, or be currently enrolled in a qualifying program. Required qualifications also include competency with microsoft applications, the ability to perform physical tasks like frequent kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and obtaining necessary certifications like a food handler's card and pediatric cpr/First aid.
