5501 Shallowford Road - Lewisville, NC 27023A Middle School Math teacher at Forsyth Country Day School provides a safe, nurturing environment for students in his or her classroom, utilizing the school’s instructional program. The teacher works to create meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences in order to continue to build strong foundational skills for lifelong learning. Teachers are committed to growth as professionals and individuals, and value and respect every member of the community.

Responsibilities

Possesses a strong background in teaching mathematics Employs a variety of teaching methods including individual and small group instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and backgrounds. Encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world around them with a global perspective. Provides tutorials as necessary for students in need of extra academic support. Advises a homeroom section Communicates regularly with parents of students including conducting conferences. Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Participates in the divisional, team, and all faculty meetings. Maintains a positive attitude and conducts oneself professionally with respect to students, faculty, parents, and the community. Vigorously pursues knowledge of the areas and level taught. QualificationsJOB REQUIREMENTS: Ability to positively contribute to a team environment and to our school community Knowledge of and ability to support middle school students’ social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development Seeks opportunities to learn and reflect Demonstrates effective classroom management skills Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities Effective problem-solving and analytical ability Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to meet deadlines Maintains a healthy sense of humor PREFERENCES: Bachelor’s degree in Math education or related field 3 or more years of teaching experience, preferably in grades 6-8 Teaching license in K-8 Math or Middle School Math preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds Must be able to sit and stand throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children. Must be able to operate a computer and have basic knowledge of Google Workspace Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed Must be able to utilize oral and written communication skills effectively
