The swim instructor is responsible for planning and delivering effective swim instruction using the y of the usa curriculum, ensuring classes start and end on time while maintaining a positive rapport with participants and parents. Essential duties include demonstrating skills clearly, observing all safety rules, being responsible for participant safety, and conducting classes according to ymca standards.
Requirements summary
Candidates must demonstrate public speaking ability and customer service orientation, with preferred prior instructor experience in an aquatic area. Required certifications include cpr and first aid within 30 days of hire, and a swim instructor certification (Wsi or ysi) must be obtained within 90 days if not already held.
