We are looking for a Special Education Substitute Teacher for the summer for our RIDE‑approved classroom in Providence with the age group being 14-21 year-old students (Near Hope Street on the East Side of Providence). This established program serves young learners with disabilities in a nurturing, innovative, and highly individualized environment—with a maximum of just ten students.
Schedule
- Monday-
- Friday 8:15AM-3:30PM
Timeframe Needed: July 6- August 21, 2026 (May start in June for Orientaiton/training)
Rate of Pay: $186 per day

Your impact
As the classroom teacher, you will
- Lead and coordinate individualized student programs
- Develop and monitor IEP goals and instructional plans
- Design structured, engaging learning environments that promote growth and independence
- Schedule, implement, and oversee daily programming
- Collaborate closely with behavior specialists, therapists, families, and support staff
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of student and staff documentation
- Foster a classroom culture that supports learning, communication, and positive behavior
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Rhode Island Department of Education certification in either Severe/Profound Special Education (We will consider Emergency Certifications)
- At least one year of experience as a special education teacher is preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with complex learning needs
- CPR/First Aid Certification (We provide training if needed)
- Safety Care Training (We provide training if needed)
