Job summary
Ascension Catholic Church, Chesterfield is seeking a part-time Lead Preschool Teacher for ages 4–5 who provides a nurturing, faith-filled, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. Rooted in Catholic values, this role integrates spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development while fostering a love of learning and respect for self and others.
Job responsibilities
- Faith Formation & Catholic Identity
- Model and promote Catholic values, prayer, and moral development in the classroom.
- Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and religious instruction as appropriate for preschool level.
- Collaborate with families to support the faith formation of each child.
- Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and implement daily lessons that support the holistic development of preschool children, aligning with diocesan early childhood standards.
- Use play-based and hands-on learning experiences to promote curiosity and creativity.
- Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Integrate faith, literacy, math, science, art, and social-emotional learning into the curriculum.
- Classroom Environment & Management
- Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom that encourages independence and cooperation.
- Establish routines and positive behavior expectations grounded in respect and Christian values.
- Observe and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating regularly with parents.
- Collaboration & Professionalism
- Work closely with assistant teachers, colleagues, and administration to ensure a cohesive early childhood program.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents through conferences, newsletters, and daily interactions.
- Job requirements
- State teaching certification and/or diocesan certification (preferred).
- Experience teaching or working with preschool-aged children.
- Active, practicing Catholic preferred; commitment to supporting Catholic values required.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
