  • School: Located in the heart of Oakland, Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children is a one-of-a-kind educational experience committed to empowering our students to realize their full potential. The School also provides vital early intervention and outreach services to visually impaired students, with or without additional challenges, throughout western Pennsylvania. Founded in 1887, our School is best equipped to care for and educate students with visual impairments. As a private institution chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the School educates approximately 200 enrolled students from 80-85 school districts within western Pennsylvania.

Position Summary

This will be a temporary position for the fall of our 2026-2027 school year assisting with an upcoming leave of a current staff member. This position will be effective from Mid August 2026 through the month of November 2026. This position reports to the Primary Program Education Director. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Working Schedule: Mondays through Fridays 8:15a-3:30p or 7:45a-3:00p (36 hours a week) Payrate: Relative to bargaining unit contract agreement, dependent on education and relative experience.

Responsibilities

Provide whole-group, individual, and small-group music therapy sessions for students in Primary (ages 3-7) and Middle (ages 8-14) Program classrooms. Provide small-group music therapy to residential students. Develop session plans tailored to therapeutic goals and skills practiced in music therapy. Adapt music therapy sessions to meet the individual abilities and needs of each student. Collaborate with the Middle and Secondary (ages 15-21) Program Music Therapist, as well as practicum students and volunteers, to ensure effective program delivery. Conduct assessment and develop individualized music therapy interventions for identified students. To consult and collaborate with Primary and Middle Program education teams regarding student needs and goals. To consult and collaborate with the Specialty Program team. To plan, implement, and support students in special events, including the Showcase Café To collect, analyze, and report upon student progress using pre-determined software.
