Under the supervision of the Athletics and Activities Manager and building administration, the Interscholastic Athletics Coach organizes and administers the team which he/she coaches.
Retired Coaches are hired per BOE Policy 7120 COACHES AND ADVISORS OF HIGH SCHOOL EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must meet all qualifications below to be considered for the vacancy.
45-Day Rule: Due to MSRA regulations, there is a mandatory 45-day waiting period after your retirement date before you can be rehired.
No education or reference surveys will need to be provided due to being a HCPSS Retiree Howard County Public School System retiree Coaches are hired by recommendations only.
If you are selected for the position, your names will be sent to HCPSS Office of Recruitment and Hiring.
You will be contacted by the Human Resources office via email from the application system.

Coaches are hired seasonally and are considered temporary employees.
Coaches receive no benefits.
Coaching positions may be paid or volunteer.
Paid coaches receive a stipend at the end of the season.

Demonstrate a mastery of and continuing interest in coaching principles and techniques through professional development.
Demonstrates positive human relations skills.
EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION Seasonal Rate of Pay: Football, Varsity Head Coach $6,058 Football Assistant $4,489 Football, Jr.
Varsity $4,489 Varsity Coach $4,816 Jr.
Varsity Coach $3,185 Allied Coach $2,577 Volunteer No Pay Benefits HCPSS offers Sick and Safe Leave for eligible temporary employees.

Temporary employees are also eligible to participate in the Supplemental Retirement Savings Plans: 403(b).
Pre-Employment Requirements Professional references will be contacted prior to any offer of employment.
Recommended candidates will be required to provide references from current and recent supervisors.
All employees, regular and temporary, must be fingerprinted, have a criminal background investigation completed, and successfully complete the Maryland Employment History Review, pursuant to Section 6-113.2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland.
In addition, some positions will require completion of a physical examination and/or drug testing.
Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the United States.
