  • Overview: Join our team as a Head Start Teacher Aide and help shape the future! In this role, you will support the Head Start Teacher in fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development of children in a safe, nurturing environment. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, maintaining a positive learning space, supervising children, and engaging parents in their child's education. This is a 10-month position (August-June).

  • Support: Assist with classroom activities, including bilingual/multicultural education and support for children with disabilities. Help assess children's growth and development. Individualize activities to meet each child's unique needs. Engage parents in classroom and at-home learning activities.

  • Safety: Supervise children at all times, ensuring a safe, supportive environment. Respond to emergencies by providing first aid, CPR, and accessing emergency services as needed.

  • Environment: Prepare and organize materials for lessons and activities. Maintain a clean, orderly, and literacy-rich environment that encourages exploration and learning. Promote family-style meals by engaging children in positive social interactions during mealtime.

  • Support: Record attendance, meal counts, and other essential data using Child Plus. Input information from home visits and parent conferences.

Collaboration

Work closely with the teacher, supervisors, and specialists to integrate recommendations and create a cohesive program.

Qualifications

Required: Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment). Ability to work at any center within the area. Must pass a physical exam, TB test, and background checks. Valid driver's license and insured vehicle.

Preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish). At least 3 months of experience working with children aged 3-5. Skills & Competencies Strong communication and listening skills. Flexibility with assignments and schedules. Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality. Dedication to working with diverse populations. Physical Demands Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and squat for extended periods. Lift or carry children or objects up to 50 pounds.
