- Range: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 Salary/yearThe Carrie Elligson Gietner School (ECH School) is an alternative school option for students in grades K-12 who struggle in a traditional learning environment. The school enrolls youth from our residential treatment program as well as qualifying day students from the surrounding community. Beyond academics, ECH School’s small class sizes and integrated therapy programs provide essential support for students with behavioral needs. Our licensed clinical social workers provide daily therapy to help students with their social and emotional challenges. We strive to provide day students with the tools and life skills they need to one day return to their home district. The Teacher leads a classroom of up to 10 students, grades K-12. Teachers at ECH work hand in hand with treatment teams to provide a safe, trauma-informed learning environment for every student. They provide individualized instruction and support, empowering their students to reach their fullest potential Key Responsibilities Plan and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students. Ensure that lesson plans meet state, district, and school requirements as well as the physical, emotional and educational levels of each student. Works with students to provide consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level, and continuous feedback to student for all learning activities. Teaches a class or classes of children who are LD or BD or both and who are not able to function in traditional school programs off campus. Works as a member of the treatment team to promote the growth of the children. Maintains a safe and trauma-informed environment in their classroom, providing support and discipline to meet the needs of each student. Keeps adequate records and reports on student progress and behaviors. Supports school programming and operations as needed, occasionally asked to work evenings and/or weekend to support events. Other work as assigned QualificationsRequired Key Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Bachelor’s Degree and Substitute Teacher Certificate Prior experience as a Teacher or Student Teacher working with LD and/or BD students. Missouri DESE Certification Highly Preferred Essential Functions and Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, this person is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. They are frequently required to sit. They are occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, they are expected to maintain composure, professionalism, make sound judgements, and ethical decisions in a variety of situations including stressful and mentally challenging situations. They must have reliable transportation and the capability to travel and report to all worksites.
