  • Range: $18.50 HourlyThe Carrie Elligson Gietner School (ECH School) is an alternative school option for students in grades K-12 who struggle in a traditional learning environment. The school enrolls youth from our residential treatment program as well as qualifying day students from the surrounding community. Beyond academics, ECH School’s small class sizes and integrated therapy programs provide essential support for students with behavioral needs. Our licensed clinical social workers provide daily therapy to help students with their social and emotional challenges. We strive to provide day students with the tools and life skills they need to one day return to their home district. The Teacher Assistant aides teachers and administrators with the daily functions of the school. This includes assisting with the dynamics and lessons within the class, preparation of lessons, and tracking student work, behavior, and progress. As a school staff member, they work hand in hand with treatment teams to provide a safe, trauma-informed learning environment for every student. They help to provide individualized instruction and support, empowering their students to reach their fullest potential Key Responsibilities Collaborate with teachers and administrators in a dynamic work environment, responding quickly to the needs of teachers, the class, and school. Guide and monitor students throughout the school day to ensure their engagement and safety. Provide trauma-informed, therapeutic support that helps students achieve both academic and behavioral growth. Work one-on-one with students to meet individualized needs. Assist with the planning and preparation of lessons and other instructional materials for students. Works as a member of the treatment team to promote the growth of the children. Maintains a safe and trauma-informed environment, providing support and discipline to meet the needs of each student. Tracks and reports on student progress and behaviors and works closely with teachers and treatment teams to ensure adequate and accurate records. Supports school programming and operations as needed, occasionally asked to work evenings and/or weekend to support events. Occasionally perform duties of a substitute teacher as assigned by the Principal. Other work as assigned QualificationsRequired Key Skills and Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. Associate’s degree preferred Ability to maintain professional composure and caring demeanor through stressful and mentally challenging situations. Ability to earn and maintain agency required trainings including but not limited to trauma-informed care and safe crisis management. Essential Functions and Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, this person is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. They are frequently required to sit. They are occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, they are expected to maintain composure, professionalism, make sound judgements, and ethical decisions in a variety of situations including stressful and mentally challenging situations. Requires the use of Safe Crisis Management (SCM) techniques, which include occasional physical interventions and will require assisting individuals to the floor, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Required to pass physical examination. They must have reliable transportation and the capability to travel and report to all worksites.
