The Staff Psychologist provides direct clinical services including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and risk assessment to students. They also engage in consultation with faculty and staff while providing supervision for trainees and unlicensed staff.
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an APA-approved program with an APA-approved internship and be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia. Experience in a multidisciplinary team and college mental health settings is required.

We’re currently searching for a Staff Psychologist to join our Cook Counseling Center team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re passionate about student mental health, please keep reading.
1) You’ll be joining the Cook Counseling Center team; a department centered on promoting student learning, development, retention, and holistic well-being by providing resources for improving mental health and identifying psychological barriers to academic success. 2) You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. 3) You’ll be responsible for providing direct clinical services to undergraduate and graduate students, including initial consultation and assessment, crisis intervention as needed, individual and group counseling, psychiatric referrals, and consultation with faculty, advisors, and staff regarding student mental health concerns. 4) You may be asked to provide supervision for unlicensed staff and trainees. 5) You will provide backup coverage for the after-hours crisis service as assigned. 6) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $70,000 - $80,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package [https://www.hr.vt.edu/benefits.html] which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!
