The Nursing Instructor is responsible for delivering a State of California approved healthcare training program through quality classroom instruction and hands-on internship supervision. They must ensure all students meet industry standards and state certification requirements for Nurse Assistants.
Candidates must hold a current California Licensed Vocational Nurse certification, a Vocational Designated Subjects teaching credential, and a Director of Staff Development certification. A minimum of two years of professional nursing experience is required, including at least one year of direct patient care in a nursing facility.
Education/Experience: Must maintain a current State of California Licensed Vocational Nurse certification plus have at least two years of experience in the provision of nursing services of which at least one year must be in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility. Must be certified through the State of California Department of Health Services as a Director of Staff Development and must maintain a State of California Vocational Designated Subjects teaching credential. Ensures all paperwork is accurate, timely, and organized to meet state regulatory expectations for student certification and program operations. Professional Licensure & Continuing Compliance - Holds and maintains a valid California Vocational Nursing License and certification as a Director of Staff Development (DSD). Completes required CEUs for ongoing licensure. Maintains certification requirements (e.g., CPR/First Aid), ensuring legal and professional readiness for instructional duties. Operational Effectiveness & Lab Readiness - Manages skills lab inventory and physical space to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness for instruction. Stocks equipment regularly and ensures a functional and professional instructional environment is maintained daily. Time & Reliability Management - Demonstrates consistent punctuality and dependability by arriving on site prior to students. Manages time effectively by prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and completing responsibilities within the instructional schedule.
