  • Shift: DayCatholic Charities Maine Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired Children currently has a Full-Time opening for a Teacher of Visually Impaired Children I. This is a remote position, with services delivered primarily through virtual platforms. The position requires periodic in-person attendance for team collaboration and agency meetings and includes collaboration with in-person support staff. The Teacher of Blind and Visually Impaired Children I (TVI I) is a professional teacher qualified to provide specialized instruction to children (ages 0–22) who are visually impaired. These services complement the work of the classroom teacher and parents. The primary goal of these services is to enable children with visual impairment to be educated within the least restrictive environment.

Maine certification (291) is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching children who are blind and visually impaired, including pre-school children, is required. Experience providing virtual instruction and supervising or collaborating with paraprofessional staff is preferred.
