Summer Rise is seeking individuals who are interested in serving as teachers this summer. This opportunity is open to certified teachers, student teachers, and college students pursuing education who are passionate about supporting student growth and committed to their faith. Teachers will work with rising 1st through rising 8th grade students at partners organizations across Knoxville. Program Timeline Training: June 1 – June 4 (8:30am-3:30pm- lunch provided) Instruction with Students: June 8 – July 16 (8:30am- 12:00pm) Days Off: All Fridays Key Responsibilities Provide instruction Monday–Thursday (3.5 hours per day): 90-minute literacy block 30-minute math block 30-minute community building and movement 60-planning/collaboration Implement curriculum and lessons designed by Lavinia Administer pre- and post-assessments to measure student learning Participate in weekly professional development (1 hour for literacy, 1 hour for math) Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment QualificationsQualifications Passion for working with students Background in education preferred (certified teachers, student teachers, or education majors) Willingness to learn, be flexible, and adapt to student and program needs Commitment to the full duration of training and the program Ability to pass a background check Strong classroom and behavior management skills, with the ability to create positive, structured learning environments Commitment to reflective practice, including openness to feedback and continuous improvement
