Position Summary

The Adjunct Faculty role includes primary responsibility for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment with an emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students. Assigned courses are online instruction.

Course Summary

  • The Adjunct Faculty member teaches undergraduate licensure methods courses designed to prepare candidates for student teaching.

  • Course Outcomes
  • Identify the ways children learn mathematics.
  • Clarify the organization and focal skills and concepts of state mathematics standards.
  • Integrate mathematics concepts and skills with lessons in literacy, science, and social studies.
  • Design mathematics lessons with a wide variety of materials and resources.
  • Create a standards-based mathematics unit of study for a particular grade level.
  • Design and use assessments that monitor the competencies and progress of children in developing mathematical skills, understandings, and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaches courses in discipline
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades with established timeframes established by the University
  • Creates a welcoming, inclusive and productive learning environment
  • Supports the resolution of student issues related to course instruction
  • Provides feedback on what is working and what is not with the course
  • Participates in all department meetings and required training
  • Participates in personal professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of an earned Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in field appropriate to the teaching discipline, from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Preferred M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, Classroom Teaching, Reading, Special Education, Educational Leadership (K-12) or other closely related.
  • Previous P-12 Teaching Experience Required

  • Knowledge of higher education regulations, compliance and accrediting agencies

Preferred Skills and Characteristics

• Previous teaching experience
