- Description 1st–5th Grade Physical Education Teacher Qualifications & Desired Attributes The ideal candidate will: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and maintain a deep understanding of dyslexia and how it affects students academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Create a positive, engaging, and active learning environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-confidence.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that build fundamental movement skills, coordination, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Deliver PE instruction with enthusiasm, energy, and creativity while maintaining high expectations for student participation and behavior.
- Utilize data and observation to monitor student growth and communicate progress effectively with families and school staff.
- Integrate character education, leadership development, teamwork, perseverance, and responsible decision-making into daily instruction.
- Demonstrate strong classroom and behavior management skills that support a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Foster positive relationships with students and serve as a role model through clear communication, professionalism, and integrity.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to support the overall development of students.
- Maintain PE equipment, supplies, and inventory in an organized and efficient manner.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching elementary-aged students. Experience working with students with dyslexia, learning differences, or special education needs. Louisiana teaching certification in Health and Physical Education (or eligibility for certification). Experience coaching youth sports, leading physical activity programs, or facilitating extracurricular activities.
