Job description

Position Overview

The Educational Specialist ensures that every youth served within the WAY Residential Program including JJI, Aspirations, Empower Housing, and SILP has an individualized educational plan that supports their academic progress throughout their time in care. This role is responsible for securing appropriate school placements, transportation, and supplemental educational services, while ensuring that all educational needs are met in accordance with agency and ACS expectations.

Working collaboratively with Caseworkers, Social Workers, Coaches, and Behavioral Specialists/Therapists, the Educational Specialist develops, implements, and monitors tailored education plans for each student. The position also coordinates tutoring, enrichment opportunities, and advocacy efforts to promote academic success and long‑term educational stability.

Position Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree 3 years direct social service experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field and two years full time experience OR Master’s degree.
  • Experience in Independent Living and Housing Training preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License with ability to drive up to a 12 passenger vans strongly preferred.
  • Basic Computer skill and good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend time.
