JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The College/Unit of Rehabilitation and Human Services (RHS) invites applications for part-time academic job of RHS Adjunct Instructor for the academic term of Fall 2026. Penn State Abington is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach courses in the Rehabilitation and Human Services major. Specifically, Penn State Abington is seeking a qualified candidate to teach the RHS 100 Disability Culture course, which is designed to increase student awareness of personal, interpersonal, and societal aspects of disability, including how disability can be defined and understood differently in varied individual, institutional, and cultural contexts. Students will learn models of disability that will help them to (a) clearly distinguish different ways of conceptualizing disability and (b) critically think about how disability is represented and understood in varied cultural contexts, including in the US and in other countries. Students will examine the ethical, economic, and social implications of disability and the dynamics of group and individual behavior that impact social interactions among people with and without disabilities. A strong emphasis will also be placed on understanding disability from a variety of cultural perspectives and assessing the impact of racial, ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, and socio-political factors, both domestically and internationally, on disability status. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum of a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation, Counseling, Human Services, or closely related field. Previous collegiate teaching experience. Prior knowledge and experience in the field of rehabilitation, counseling, disabilities, and/or human services.
