JOB DESCRIPTION USC Athletics is looking to hire a Senior Learning Specialist to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals.
This role is responsible for providing academic support to student-athletes and will perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Athletic Academic Support, the Senior Learning Specialist will work in collaboration with USC’s Athletic Department, Office of Student Accessibility Services, and other departments across campus that aid in the academic success of students.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as meticulous organizational skills, will pay very close attention to detail, is patient and adaptable to the changing needs of student populations, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teamworks and web-based applications (i.e.
Google Docs, Google Slides, etc.) is necessary.
The ideal candidate has 3 or more years of working as a Learning Specialist in post-secondary education and has experience providing specialized academic support to students with Learning Differences/Disabilities.
This position will also be required to maintain detailed student progress records and communicate regularly with supervisors, fellow Learning Specialists, Athletic Academic Advisors and appropriate Athletic Department staff while working autonomously.
Learning Specialists are responsible for timely, accurate, detailed, and proactive reporting on the academic progress of a caseload of student-athletes (TBD).
Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred.
Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes preferred.
This position serves a large student and staff population, must demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for a variety of populations, and is expected to contribute to the program’s demonstrated commitment to non-discrimination and equal opportunity for all.

This is an exempt position with work expected to be Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm with additional evening hours required for at least 1 night of the week.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and have a minimum of two years of experience (three years preferred).
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Apps and Teamworks.
Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.

The salary for this position is $70,304.00.
