Job description

  • Department Intercollegiate Athletics Summary Reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Director of Athletics.
  • Assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with various aspects of the varsity basketball program; i.e., coaching, recruiting, scheduling, camps/clinics, and game/practice management and fundraising.
  • The assistant men’s basketball coach will adhere to RMAC rules, regulations, and NCAA Division II bylaws.
  • In addition, the assistant men’s basketball coach will represent MSU Denver in a positive manner and continue to uphold the program’s philosophies and the athletic department’s core values.
  • Duties/Responsibilities 40% – Coaching – Assist head coach in coaching team 20% – Recruiting 20% – Supervision of student-athletes.
  • 10% – Scheduling 10% – Game/Practice management Recruit Student-Athletes Responsible for Game Scheduling (Pre-Season Home & Away Games; Conference Challenge, and Thanksgiving Classic) Community Engagement Coordinator (Rescue mission, Children’s Hospital Visit, Unified Teams, etc…) Video Coordinator (Uploading games to Synergy, creating edits for scouting; film breakdown) Assists with academics Assists Head Coach in coaching team (Individual workouts, game strategy, and scouting reports) Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Previous competitive and/or coaching experience in specified sport.

College coaching experience Knowledge of NCAA rules Must possess computer literacy Schedule Information .75 FTE, 30 hours per week Exempt from overtime Hours: Varies Evenings and Weekend Work: As Needed Schedule: In-Person Travel: As Needed Salary for Announcement Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full time hiring range for this position is $41,626 - $66,667. The anticipated hiring range at a .75 FTE is $31,220 - $50,000. This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
