HealthPartners is offering a 12-month postgraduate fellowship program to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners interested in advanced training in Urgent Care with a targeted start date of January 2027.
The Urgent Care Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) Fellowship Program engages learners in extensive training within Urgent Care, as well as required rotations in specialty areas deemed essential for proficiency. Responsibilities include basic medical duties of performing histories and physicals, formulating an assessment and plan, and providing necessary treatments and procedures. All work is supervised by an attending physician or APC.
Through lectures, skills training, and simulation, didactic sessions compliment the diverse rotations and hands on experiences, offering APC Fellows the opportunity to develop clinical competence, critical thinking skills, and interprofessional collaboration. This allows APCs to successfully integrate into the specialty of Urgent Care at an accelerated rate compared with on-the-job training.

Market context
Demand for advanced practice clinician fellows in urgent care is typically tied to high patient volume, extended hours, and the need for clinicians who can work efficiently in fast-paced settings across Minnesota. These roles are competitive because employers usually want accredited PA or NP preparation, current national certification, and Minnesota licensure, along with comfort handling a broad range of acute visits.
