The Herron Classical Schools Network (Herron High School, Herron-Riverside High School, and Herron Preparatory Academy) is a Mayor-sponsored charter network and a member of the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) Innovation Network. The Herron Classical Schools network operates with the authority to make decisions about all aspects of our schools and is overseen by its own board of directors. As Innovation schools, we partner with IPS to give students a broader base of resources while maintaining our status as tuition-free charter schools.

  • Job Summary Herron Classical Schools seeks a School Nurse for Herron High School for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
  • This position reports to the Vice President, COO.
  • The High School Nurse promotes and protects the health and well-being of students and staff in order to support student learning and success.
  • The school nurse provides direct health services, manages student health plans, responds to emergencies, administers medications, and serves as a liaison between families, school staff, and healthcare providers.

  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and outside healthcare providers to support student health and learning.

  • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy school environment.

  • Educate students and staff on health, wellness, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • 13.
  • Participate in student support meetings, case conferences, and crisis response teams as needed.
  • 14.
  • Maintain inventory and organization of health office supplies and medications.
  • 15.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations and school policies.
  • 16.
  • Prepare reports and documentation required by the district and state agencies.
  • Requirements

    Qualifications

    1. RN preferred, but LPN required. 2. Current Indiana Registered Nurse license in good standing. 3. Current CPR certification. 4. Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanor. 5. Displays a positive and enthusiastic attitude. 6. Has good organizational, management, interpersonal, and technical skills. 7. Can use good judgment and discretion in handling emergencies, deciding on procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards of care, and resolving problems.
