  • Campus Aide Reporting to: Dean of Operations FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-exempt, 12 month Who we are: Bright Star Schools is a free, publicly funded and open enrollment non-profit organization with nine public charters in urban Los Angeles. Across all of our Bright Star sites, over 90% of our students are eligible for free and reduced lunch.   • Supervising hallways, arrival and dismissal
  • Coordinate the operations of the day to day meal system
  • Support the Dean of Students/School Counselor/ Principal by providing restorative justice practices in the discipline process

  • High school diploma required
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with students and their families
  • Ability to facilitate connections with students and faculty
  • Experience working with at-risk youth a plus
  • Proactive approach essential Desired (but not required) in order of importance:
  • Bachelor's Degree or college course units toward BA desired
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including advocacy skills; fluency in Spanish highly desired
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Korean preferred Cognitive & Behavioral Competencies
  • Must be able to analyze written, spoken, visual, and other sensory stimuli
  • Must have ability to understand and analyze written and spoken English
  • Must be able to cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints
  • Must be able to make sound judgments based on available information
  • Must be able to engage in frequent student/parent/coworker contact
  • Must be able to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Must be able to perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Must be able to maintain accuracy in tasks requiring meticulous attention to detail
  • Must have flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work demands
  • Must be able to logically solve problems
  • Must be able to provide and follow detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and students

  • Frequent reaching and twisting, including reaching above shoulder height
  • Manual dexterity, and finger/wrist and hand repetitions are needed; frequent repetitive motion; frequent writing and typing; frequent grasping, holding and reaching.
