The ideal candidate will have experience teaching the North Carolina State Standards for a Middle School Social Studies Teacher, and feels competent to teach in a diverse and ever changing learning environment. We are looking for teachers who understand that learning is a lifelong endeavor and who wish to continue to grow and learn as teachers, taking risks, and refining their teaching for the benefit of the students we serve.
Full-Time, 10-Month (August-May) POSITION: Middle School Social Studies Teacher AVAILABLE: August 3, 2026 REPORTS TO: Principal
CERTIFICATION: NC Teacher Certification in the subject area and relevant grades EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to teach middle school with a passion for and competency in the appropriate subject area; experience in teaching middle school Social Studies ENVIRONMENT: Demonstrated ability to build a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implement positive behavior practices, and build strong relationships with students and families to support student success CURRICULUM: Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the content standards outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study WHOLE GIRL: Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities. SALARY: NC Educators step pay scale, including honoring: Local supplement (New Hanover County Schools) 10% for a related master's degree 12% for current National Board Certification
