  • Kamehameha Schools Maui is seeking a motivated and committed Part-Time Security Officer who prioritizes the safety and well‑being of our students, staff, and community, and who contributes actively to a secure, supportive campus environment, to join our campus ‘ohana.
  • Ideal candidates are able to: Conduct and support investigations with professionalism, accuracy, and discretion Think on their feet and use strong judgment to respond to evolving situations Manage large crowds and campus events calmly, effectively, and safely Understand and execute safety plans and emergency procedures Write clear, accurate, and thorough incident reports Apply effective de‑escalation skills to resolve conflicts safely Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, faculty, students, families, and community members Bring experience in dispatching, radio communication, and CCTV monitoring (preferred) If you have experience in K–12 environments, are observant, proactive, and ready to take an active role in maintaining a safe and welcoming campus, we encourage you to apply. *This is a part-time position with benefits.
  • Job Summary Provides security services for students, faculty, staff, visitors and facilities for Kamehameha Schools.
  • These services include but are not limited to: monitoring CCTV cameras, vehicle and foot patrols of all campus property; enforcing traffic and parking regulations; providing safety and security inspection services; investigating and recording traffic, criminal and non-criminal incidents; parking and crowd supervision; monitoring and restricting access to sacred sites, monitoring vendors and general public access and restricting entry of unauthorized persons or vehicles, directing visitors and delivery vehicles and keeping records on specified vehicles entering or leaving campus.
  • Essential Responsibilities Physical Security and Patrols Maintains a safe and secure environment by adhering strictly to security protocols and procedures.
  • Maintains the safety of facilities, property, and individuals on campus through regular vehicle and foot patrols, remaining alert to unusual conditions or unauthorized personnel.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed. High School Diploma/Equivalent Minimum of 1 year of related work experience. Valid Hawaii Driver's license and current driving abstract. Current DCCA Guard Employee License or ability to obtain certification within 60 days from date of hire. Current standard First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months from date of hire. Ability to work independently and flexibility to accommodate a rotational schedule, including 24/7 availability. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal skills, allowing effective interaction with KS staff, students, parents, and the public. Proficient in computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and email, and able to learn, operate, and monitor CCTV systems for recording and review purposes. Competence in typing and computer use for detailed incident reporting.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum of 1 year of experience in a security, police, or emergency response role. Security experience within a K-12 school environment. Knowledge of security-related software and applications customarily used in the field. Specialized training in Crisis Intervention, drone operation, defensive tactics, or similar programs. Physical and Mental Requirements Frequently writes by hand, stands, walks and lift/and/carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally sits, performs desk-based computer tasks and requires ability to grasp using light or fine manipulation Frequently twists, bends, stoops, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp firmly. Working Conditions (including environmental conditions) This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business. Work is conducted in a school environment and regularly requires work to be conducted in non-standard, outdoor environment. Work assignments may be conducted 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
