Job description

Position: Activity Specialist – Part-Time, Summer Camp Position Only

Department: Youth Services

Reports to: Program Director, Program Assistant Director

Location: Manhattan Baruch Cornerstone Program @ 605 FDR Drive NY, NY 10002

SALARY

$25.00 - per hour

DATES: July 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026

Schedule

Monday-Thursday-Friday 4pm-8pm; Saturday & Sunday 4pm-8pm This position is performance based and is also contingent on funding availability.

Job summary

As part of our

Services
Department’s vision: all Youth Services Staff will assist in promoting growth, leadership and positive self-image in all young people at all of our Grand Street Settlement sites. Our Activity Specialists will assist in the day-to-day functioning of program and ensure that youth are learning and building hard skills. This position is based on youth interest; must maintain a minimum of 15 youth in a group.

Education, experience and requirements

High School diploma required; college degree preferred
Youth development experience required
Experience teaching and designing curricula
Previous experience working with diverse young people
Three (3) or more years of experience & expertise working with youth (volunteer experience is acceptable)
Three (3) or more years of experience coaching, instructing, or facilitating curriculum-based lessons (to youth preferred)
Ideal candidate is personable, energetic, and enthusiastic
Must successfully complete the following:
NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening
New York State Clearance Review Background Check
Three (3) Reference Checks
Physical with updated TB Test (Fees may apply)
Submit $25 fee for NY State Clearance Review (if offered the position)
Valid CPR/AED Pro certification through a recognized accrediting body preferred
