The Boxing Expert delivers professional-level, non-contact boxing instruction to middle and high school–aged youth, emphasizing proper technique, conditioning, safety, discipline, and confidence. This role is designed for an experienced boxing professional who can create a structured, motivating, and inclusive environment while fostering physical fitness, skill development, and personal growth. Pay & Commitment: $125 per hour 3-hour shifts, 2 days per week 7 weeks beginning in July Location: Polo Grounds Cornerstone @ PS 194 244 West 144th Street New York, NY 10030 Key Responsibilities Instruction & Technique: Teach proper boxing techniques, including stance, punches, defense, footwork, and combinations in a non-contact setting Conduct drills and exercises to build strength, endurance, agility, and overall physical fitness Demonstrate movements and provide individualized feedback to improve student performance Safety & Conditioning: Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with best practices Monitor students for signs of fatigue or injury and adjust exercises as needed Teach injury prevention strategies and proper warm-up/cool-down routines Student Support & Development: Foster discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship in all students Adapt instruction to accommodate different skill levels and learning styles Track student progress and provide constructive feedback Classroom & Group Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment Set clear expectations for behavior and participation Address conflicts or behavioral issues promptly and professionally Collaboration & Communication: Work with program staff to align boxing instruction with broader youth development goals Communicate student progress, challenges, or needs to program staff or parents Program Support & Documentation: Maintain accurate attendance and participation records Assist with preparation for fitness challenges, demonstrations, or showcases if applicable QualificationsQualifications Minimum of 5–7 years of professional boxing experience, including coaching or instructing adolescents Certification in boxing coaching from a recognized organization (e.g., USA Boxing Coach Certification) preferred Strong knowledge of boxing techniques, training methods, and safety protocols Experience developing structured lesson plans and adapting instruction for youth Ability to motivate and inspire students while maintaining discipline and respect in the classroom Skills & Competencies Instructional leadership and mentorship Student engagement and motivation Physical conditioning and technique instruction (non-contact) Clear communication and adaptability Professionalism and reliability Work Environment: This position involves teaching non-contact boxing in a gym, studio, or group setting, including demonstrations, drills, and hands-on technique instruction.
