Summary: Designs, implements, and reviews age-appropriate curriculum, manages classroom activities and interactions, supervises assistant teachers, students and volunteers while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

Job Description

Essential Functions: Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children. Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well-being. Communicates effectively with parents regarding children's progress and behavior. Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior. Observes and assesses children's development and growth. Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment. Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred.

Certifications

Active Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of hire, preferred. 24 annual hours of Ohio-Approved Professional Development tracked by department, unless Associate's Degree or CDA certification is maintained, required.

Skills

Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals. Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students. Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities. Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
