Ensure the safety of all range users and protect facility property while providing instruction on proper firearm use. Perform operational tasks including equipment maintenance, grounds keeping, and inventory tracking.
Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma and the ability to obtain NRA Range Safety Officer and CPR/First Aid certifications. Requires familiarity with recreational firearms and the physical ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Ability to work up to 29 hours per week Ability to obtain NRA Range Safety Officer certification within six months of employment. Ability to interact with patrons and visitors with a calm demeanor at all times. Must be highly alert and willing to put the safety of clientele as a high priority. Must have the ability to be firm when delivering safety cautions, but friendly and encouraging while offering advice. Familiarity with the various types of firearms used in recreational shooting.
General shooting range experience. Current NRA Range Safety Officer Certification Shooting related certifications (ie. Instructor, coach, armorer) Competitive or extensive recreational shooting background Driving Requirements To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record. ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate to convey clear, well-articulated information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University. Strong organizational skills. Problem Solving Able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities Familiarity with different shooting disciplines and the firearms associated with those disciplines. Must be able to recognize and enforce all safety rules and regulations. Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations. Frequently required to move around and stand for extended periods to perform labor tasks and other duties. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. Regularly lift 50 or more pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions. Both areas are well lit and the noise level is considerable. Eye and ear protection will be required at all times while working on the range. Time Type Part time Location Onsite Pay Range Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.
