Job description

As we plan for the 2026-2027 School Year, Carolina Preparatory Academy (Carolina Prep) seeks International Baccalaureate (IB)-Trained Teachers for its middle and high school program. This is an open call for IB educators looking to join a community that believes in “respect, integrity, community, and love of learning.” Our IB teachers challenge each child to reach their fullest potential academically, emotionally, and physically in a prepared environment.

  • Overview Established in 1974, The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) & Carolina Preparatory Academy (Carolina Prep) is a vibrant and exceptional independent Montessori and International Baccalaureate (IB) World School school in the Triangle area serving 400+ students aged 15 months through 18 years.

  • Our Montessori programs for Toddler - Upper Elementary students (15 months - grade 6) are located on our beautifully designed Lead Mine Campus, situated on 10 acres in North Raleigh, comprising five buildings in a child-centered, village-like setting surrounded by wetlands and protected forest.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education or a related field
  • MYP and/or DP certification in subject area, or willing to obtain during the first year of employment
  • Minimum three years teaching experience

  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Adhere to IB guidelines and professional standards
  • In partnership with the Middle School Director and Upper School Director, create and submit a curriculum log to support archival documentation, transparency and accountability for accreditation purposes
  • Create and post your syllabus both online and in your classroom
  • Ensure safety and well-being of students in the classroom and on campus
  • Establish and deliver English education scope and sequence curriculum
  • Create and foster a learning environment that produces agile thinkers, poised communicators and gracious collaborators
  • Maintain a supportive and collaborative partnership with faculty and administration to assist with curriculum development and implementation within the context of the School's overall program and Mission
  • Attend all required faculty and team meetings
  • Collaborate and participate within divisional team as needed
  • Maintain and participate in a home/school partnership by being open to consistent communication
  • Implement and participate in meetings involving Student Support Plans as needed
  • Maintain student record keeping, lesson planning, parent reports, and parent conferences
  • Be available to parents through written communication and attending conferences
  • Other duties as assigned by the Middle School Director, Upper School Director, or Head of School.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment IB-trained teachers can expect to

  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment, with periods of time outdoors
  • Spend periods of time standing and sitting
  • Supervise groups of students and regularly engage with parents, staff, and visitors
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Turn, bend, and reach
