Assistant Teacher

The assistant teacher supports the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate classroom activities in alignment with head start standards and state regulations, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for each child. Key duties involve assisting with lesson plans, child assessment documentation, supporting classroom routines, ensuring child safety and supervision, engaging with families, and collaborating closely with the lead teacher.

Candidates need a high school diploma or ged, plus either a cda credential or an associate/Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education or a related field within two years of hire for the standard assistant teacher role. Essential requirements include demonstrating nurturing teacher-Child interactions, the ability to maintain classroom discipline, knowledge of safety procedures, and obtaining necessary certifications like tb screening, first aid, and pediatric cpr.
