The Special Education Teacher will implement the child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), promoting well-being and progress toward goals while managing assigned classroom staff. Responsibilities also include evaluating students, implementing curriculum, managing classroom behaviors, and maintaining professional documentation.
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Special Education and hold specific New York State Education Department (NYSED) certifications for Special Education, including birth through 2nd grade or permanent certification. Essential physical abilities include modifying the environment, safely moving children up to 30 pounds, and quickly moving up to 200 feet to prevent elopement.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. You will work closely with them, by implementing their IEP/IFSP, promoting their well-being, and helping them progress toward their goals.
