The Adapted Physical Education Teacher is responsible for developing Individual Educational Programs (IEPs), setting learning goals, and conducting daily activities aligned with those goals for students with varying functioning levels. This role also involves communicating progress to parents, maintaining required service logs and records, and developing an appropriate physical education curriculum.
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience specifically with students with disabilities and hold a Louisiana Teacher Certification, along with a BA or BS Degree. A strong desire to create a program for students with moderate to severe disabilities is also required.
