Position Summary
Northside Charter High School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Math Teacher for the 2025–2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop strong mathematical reasoning, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills through rigorous, engaging instruction and meaningful collaboration.
As New York State Education Department (NYSED) graduation requirements evolve, we are seeking an innovative educator who is ready to think strategically about instructional design and assessment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the mathematics team to develop and implement forward-thinking approaches that ensure students meet graduation benchmarks while building the skills necessary for post-secondary success.
This role requires a teacher who is reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement, someone eager to help shape a program that prepares students not just for exams, but for college-level coursework and career readiness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in mathematics, which may include Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or Statistics, depending on expertise and school need.
- College
- Readiness: Integrate PSAT, SAT, and college-level problem types into daily instruction to strengthen students’ analytical reasoning, problem-solving stamina, and readiness for post-secondary academic expectations.
- Student
- Engagement: Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a growth mindset in mathematics.
- Skill
- Development: Help students build foundational skills to solve complex problem sets involving deep reasoning and real-world application.
- Assessment and
- Feedback: Design and administer assessments to evaluate student progress, provide timely and constructive feedback, and tailor instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Differentiation: Adapt instruction to accommodate various learning levels and styles, ensuring all students are supported and challenged.

- Management: Maintain an organized, respectful, and positive learning environment.
- Collaboration: Work with colleagues and coach to align curriculum, share resources, and participate in professional learning communities.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and effective teaching practices.
- Completed at least one full academic year in a classroom teaching role.
Preferred
- Valid teaching certification for secondary mathematics (or ability to obtain certification before the start date).
- Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) math courses.
- Familiarity with integrating technology into mathematics instruction.
