Job summary

The Middle School English Teacher is responsible for developing students’ reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills in a faith-centered environment.

  • Job responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with curriculum standards
  • Teach reading comprehension, literature analysis, writing (narrative, expository, persuasive), grammar, and vocabulary
  • Incorporate a variety of texts, including novels, short stories, poetry, and informational materials
  • Integrate Catholic values and themes into literature discussions and writing assignments when appropriate
  • Encourage critical thinking, reflection, and respectful discussion of ideas
  • Create a structured, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment
  • Assess student progress through essays, projects, quizzes, and exams
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, assignments, and attendance
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with faculty and participate in meetings, professional development, and school events
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times as assigned
  • Job requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field
  • Valid state teaching certification (preferred or required depending on school)
  • Experience teaching middle school students preferred
  • Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the mission of Catholic education
  • Completion of background check and diocesan safe environment training
