- Job Summary The Middle School English Teacher is responsible for developing students’ reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills in a faith-centered environment.Job Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with curriculum standards Teach reading comprehension, literature analysis, writing (narrative, expository, persuasive), grammar, and vocabulary Incorporate a variety of texts, including novels, short stories, poetry, and informational materials Integrate Catholic values and themes into literature discussions and writing assignments when appropriate Encourage critical thinking, reflection, and respectful discussion of ideas Create a structured, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment Assess student progress through essays, projects, quizzes, and exams Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Maintain accurate records of grades, assignments, and attendance Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress Collaborate with faculty and participate in meetings, professional development, and school events Supervise students during non-instructional times as assigned Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field Valid state teaching certification (preferred or required depending on school) Experience teaching middle school students preferred Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the mission of Catholic education Completion of background check and diocesan safe environment training The Archdiocese of St.
