Job Description
Minneapolis College is seeking applications for potential temporary part-time and/or adjunct Dental Assistant Faculty within the School of Nursing, Health Sciences and Wellness. The Dental Assistant Department at Minneapolis College is committed to excellence in teaching and learning as we educate the next generation of dental assistants. Faculty members collaborate in the delivery of dental assistant courses to prepare students to complete their diploma or associate degree. This position may teach all components of dental assistant education: theory, lab, and clinic. Instructor Responsibilities: Teaching all aspects of Dental assisting (theory, lab and clinic). Teaches with an inclusive and equity-minded approach. Is dedicated to excellence in teaching and has the desire to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. Is committed to student success. Teaches in traditional as well as other delivery modes, including, but not limited to, synchronous and asynchronous online formats. Regularly develops, reviews, and revises instructional and assessment materials. Participates in the assessment of program and course student learning outcomes. Is a participatory member of the dental assistant division and the greater college community through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings. Practices current teaching strategies, including active learning, learner outcome assessments, and online instruction. Maintains ongoing professional development in dental assisting as well as in the areas of teaching and learning. Should be flexible with teaching hours; with the possibility of evening and weekends Credit Load: Instructor may receive between six (2) to twelve (12) total credits of instruction per academic semester - depending on department needs.
Salary Range
Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2025-2027 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess or meet minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State colleges and universities credential field of Dental Assistant, #500088: Visit https://www.minnstate.edu/system/asa/academicaffairs/cfc/fields/500088.html for details. Education Requirement Bachelor degree and graduate of an accredited dental assisting program. Occupational Experience Requirement Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verifi ed related paid work experience as a dental assistant. Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the fi ve years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential fi eld. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) post-secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years. Professional Requirement Dental Assistant certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Current Dental Assistant License from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry. Other Requirements Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position. To be qualified for this position, you must meet all minimum qualifications. All applicants must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States at the time of employment.
