Compensation PERIOD ACTIVITY PAY of $300 Lunch included for counselors. Hours Monday, August 10 - Thursday, August 13 (Week 1) Meeting before camp check-in 8:30 am - 4:15 pm

Job Description

Students applying to serve as a camp counselor must: Be energetic and enthusiastically engage all campers throughout the entire camp. Stive to ensure that all campers have a positive experience and answer questions about attending UWSP. Complete all required hiring paperwork and trainings. Follow rules as outlined in the UWSP counselor expectations. Understand and enforce camp rules and policies. Maintain head counts of assigned campers. Inform camp director if a camper is missing. Escort assigned campers to all areas of activity (classes, tours, meals, social activities). Assist instructor in classroom as requested by instructor(s). Help maintain a safe and positive camp experience for all attendees. Work collaboratively with other counselors and camp staff. Be a role model – encourage integrity, confidence, and teamwork. Help recruit and welcome future students, families, and counselors to UWSP. Demonstrate a prevention mind set in keeping campers safe during camp. Duties as assigned by program manager and camp director. Fulfill medical counselor training requirements. Administer according to CampDoc and log any needed medications accurately during camp. Required Qualifications Students applying for this position must pass a Criminal Background Check with Position of Trust for Vulnerable Populations and Misconduct Reference Check. Students applying for this position must also complete any required trainings for youth policy. Excellent organization, communication and teamwork skills. Ability to be flexible, adaptable and team oriented. Students must also complete UWSP Conferences and Events training prior to the start of camp. Remain calm and assist campers during any potential emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Have prior experience working with and supervising youth. Possess a solid knowledge of UWSP Campus. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
