TITLE: Youth Employment Participant

Department: Programs

Supervisor: Teen Coordinator

STATUS: Part-time, Non-exempt

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta is offering an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our dynamic, forward-thinking team. Position Summary

The Youth Employment Participant (YEP) position is a summer employment opportunity designed specifically for current teen members who are interested in gaining work experience while supporting their Club community. As part of the program team, Youth Employment Participants will assist staff and help create a positive environment for younger members in academic, athletic, and artistic program areas. With a priority of supporting youth during program hours, participants in this role will also be responsible for completing the duties listed below.

  • Program support
  • Assist Club staff with preparing materials and supporting daily program activities.
  • Help set up and clean up activity areas, games, and program spaces.
  • Support staff during academic, athletic, and enrichment programs.
  • Member engagement
  • Encourage members to participate in activities and programs.
  • Help create a welcoming and positive environment for all Club members.
  • Assist younger members during activities when directed by staff.
  • Role modeling
  • Demonstrate positive behavior, responsibility, and respect for others.
  • Serve as a role model for younger Club members.
  • Promote teamwork, inclusion, and good sportsmanship.
  • Safety and supervision support
  • Assist staff in maintaining safe and organized program spaces.
  • Help monitor activity areas while staff lead programming.
  • Immediately report concerns or issues to Club staff.
  • Club operations support
  • Assist with welcoming new members and helping them feel comfortable at the Club.
  • Support staff with organizing supplies and maintaining program materials.
  • Help keep Club spaces clean and organized.
  • Special events
  • Assist staff with special programs, field days, and Club events.
  • Provide support during larger group activities and summer celebrations.
  • Team participation
  • Work collaboratively with staff and other Youth Employment Participants.
  • Help wherever needed as directed by Club leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a teen member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and willing to learn.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to help others.
  • Ability to follow directions from Club staff and supervisors.

Work environment

Youth Employment Participants will work in a youth-centered environment supporting Boys & Girls Club programs, activities, and events during the summer months.The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion.
