Marymount School seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Lower School Physical Education Teacher for students in Early Childhood through Grade 2. P.E. teachers typically serve as coaches in our Athletics program and must possess a strong understanding of skill development and strategy in their area(s) of specialization. We hope to find a P.E. teacher who is also interested in coaching, including practice design, game management, player development, and team culture.
include: Teach physical education classes to students ranging from Early Childhood (3 years old) through Grade 2, and assist in Lower Middle School classes. Participate actively in school life, including assemblies, professional development, and other community events. Demonstrate strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Collaborate closely with colleagues on curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogy. Encourage students and help them develop healthy habits, body awareness, resilience, teamwork, self-confidence, and a positive relationship with movement and exercise. Fulfill supervisory duties and other responsibilities as assigned by the divisional head and department chair. Coach 2–3 seasons of Middle or Upper School athletics.
Master’s degree in physical education preferred. 3+ years of experience teaching physical education in an Early Childhood or elementary setting. Experience engaging and adapting instruction for diverse learners. Ability to build strong professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Commitment to equity and belonging in teaching practices.
