Job summary

Responsible for assisting in the educational developmentally appropriate activities in the classroom.

Children supervision responsibility

Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe.

Essential functions

1. Assist the teacher in planning, implementing and evaluating the operations of the classroom and educational related activities.

2. Provides appropriate staff-child interactions and also supports the social, emotional, physical and developmental needs of each child.

3. Active participation in educational opportunities for professional growth, including meetings, trainings, conferences and meetings.

4. Work cooperatively with all staff in meeting Head Start Performance Standards and other compliance mandates.

5. Assist in coordinating parent activities and events.

6. Attend parent and staff conferences as required.

1. Adhere to Alliance for Community Empowerment Inc. policies and procedures related to prevention and response to COVID-19, including participating in training, use of PPE, implementation of universal precautions, social distancing, and keeping workspace clean.

1. Assist with daily health screening, monitoring as related to COVID-19.

1. Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or crisis situation.

1. Physical ability to monitor and respond quickly to children who are very active and may need redirection in order to ensure their safety or the safety of others.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, experience and skills required

Must have a High School Diploma and at least six months as a classroom volunteer or substitute in an early child care setting.

Good organizational skills required.

Good oral and written communication skill required.

Bi-lingual helpful but not required.
