Job description
Description Are you an EEC certified preschool teacher who loves working with children and supporting their growth and development? If so, come join the Early Childhood Education team at the Greendale Family Branch in the Wee Wuns Preschool Program.
Under the supervision of the Supervising Lead Teacher, the Preschool Teacher provides direction for the classroom and implements curriculum which promotes social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth.
Essential Functions
Has knowledge of and maintains NAEYC and DEEC standards. Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson/activity plans. Implement curriculum developed by the Wee Wuns Coordinator in partnership with the Lead Teacher. Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. Supervise children in both indoor and outdoor settings, including swimming and playground activities. Help with child observations, documentation, and assessments as needed. Communicate positively and professionally with parents and families. Assist with maintaining attendance, health, and safety records. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and YMCA family/community events. Perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor. Weekly Swimming
Qualifications
Must hold EEC Preschool Teacher certification, or currently looking to enroll in courses and meet DEEC requirements. Must be at least 18 years old required. High school diploma required; enrollment in an Early Childhood Education program or Associate’s degree preferred. Current certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid (or willingness to obtain). Ability to support age-appropriate programming and curriculum. Strong interpersonal skills with children, families, and colleagues. Must be physically able to participate in active play, outdoor supervision, and evacuation drills, as well as lift children when necessary. Must provide evidence of physical examination and health clearance every two years, proof of negative Mantoux test, and documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella. Within 30 days of hire: completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training. Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. - Monday-Friday 8am-4pm or 9am-5:30pm
- Pay: $17.00/hr-$22.00/hr (based on education and experience) with a full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested, the YMCA will pay into a retirement account for you!
New hires for Full-Time EEC teaching positions at Greendale Family Branch YMCA will receive a $2,000 bonus which, $500 will be paid immediately upon hire, $500 upon completion of a 90-day review, and $1,000 at the 180-day mark.
