Description of work

General Statement of Duties

In alignment with Webster University’s strategic plan and within the purview of the Reeg Academic Resource Center, the Academic ADA Coordinator is responsible for a case load of students with documented disabilities by providing academic and educational guidance and counseling. The Academic ADA Coordinator supports disability services, which includes providing and coordinating services for students with documented disabilities. Additionally, the Academic ADA Coordinator works with faculty and staff members, community organizations (such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, etc.), and the general public to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Reports to the Director, Reeg Academic Resource Center.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and educational guidance and counseling to students with documented disabilities, including documenting and developing academic accommodations, working with faculty and staff members to ensure equal academic access, and providing personalized assistance for and academic support to these students.
  • Make referrals to appropriate University and community resources to help students with documented disabilities attain their life and educational goals.
  • Counsel and support undeclared students in determining and declaring an academic major.
  • Assist students with disabilities in making a smooth transition to the University and in maintaining a well-balanced University experience through face-to-face and/or telephone meetings.
  • Identify specific campus services, including peer tutoring, academic ADA accommodations, the Writing Center, the Testing Center and Counseling, for student success based on individual students’ needs, and tutor students as needed.
  • Communicate with faculty members to identify academic issues and provide early intervention strategies.
  • Communicate with parents and families of students, upon consent, to generate a system of support for students.
  • Promote awareness of university services for students with disabilities throughout the global University community (students, faculty and staff members, and administration).
  • Develop, maintain, assess, and continually improve disability services policies and procedures.
  • Report program news and statistics to the appropriate members of the University community.

    • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong computer skills and experience with online services are desired.
    • Demonstrated flexibility and problem-solving skills are essential.
    • Excellent oral, written and communication skills are required.
    • Must have the ability to prioritize and manage work-related stress.
    • Requisite Experience
    • Must have at least two years of experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator.

    Standard Schedule

    • Monday -
    • Friday- 8:30am-4:30pm with occasional evening and weekend hours. Flexible/Remote work arrangement is available in accordance with Webster University's Flexible and/or Remote Work Arrangement policy and use by individual employees is at the discretion of the supervisor and unit leadership based on department and University needs.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements

    • Within the normal range of an office environment. May be required to lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
