Job description

Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning instructors are hired on a per course basis, teach or instruct non-credit vocational or occupational subjects at the postsecondary level in professional continuing education, workforce development, non-transcript certificates, and/or personal enrichment contexts. CELL instructors report to the Director for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*

  • 1.
  • Provides effective instruction that encompasses active and meaningful learning activities.
  • 2.
  • Develops curriculum, materials/handouts, lectures, and/or labs, and updates regularly to ensure relevancy and currency; selects required course resources and textbooks, as necessary.
  • 3.
  • Assist learners, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  • 4.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, and performance.
  • 5.
  • May provide students with a course syllabus which aligns with the common course syllabus and provides information detailing learning expectations, major assignments, and methods of evaluation.
  • 6.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • 7.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of industry-specific experience and/ or previous adult teaching experience.
  • Areas of Interest: Continuing Education Programming
