Position Title

  • Middle School Math Teacher Reports to: Chief Executive Officer and Principal Term: Ten (10) month position, salaried COMPANY OVERVIEW Are you a passionate and creative global educator looking for a culturally rich environment where you can make an impact? POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES Math teachers at GLA build thinking classrooms. Scholars are encouraged to be curious and ask questions for clarification when they need to better understand something, understand conceptual understandings, and solve authentic, real-world problems to promote critical thinking. The Middle School Math Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks: Designing rigorous, PA Core standards-aligned lessons based on the standards for mathematical practice and content Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving children feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner. Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects Maintaining positive relationships with scholars, parents, coworkers and supervisors Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment Working with scholars in both small groups and large groups Tracking and evaluating student academic progress Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence Identify the educational needs of scholars and altering instruction to meet student needs Communicate with parents on a regular basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual scholar needs. Meet with parents during scheduled conferences during the school year. **Other duties as assigned by CEO, Principal, or Academy Leader*
  • QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty exceptionally. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required in field of education or mathematics education. CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES It is preferred that the middle school mathematics teacher have a current teaching license (Grades 4-8 Math) PROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR AND CHARACTERISTICS Ability to demonstrate initiative, leadership, collaboration, and independent thinking. Must possess strong people skills and emotional intelligence when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues, as well as a demonstrated understanding of and investment in the School. COMPENSATION Initial salary offers for this position range from $47,000 – $75,000. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
