Behavioral Health Assistant

• In this role, you’ll be a key part of the classroom environment—supporting children, collaborating with staff, and helping create a positive, nurturing space where every child can learn and thrive.
• What You’ll Do Support children’s social–emotional development by using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) techniques.
• Plan and lead PBIS-based activities that help children learn skills like emotional regulation, problem-solving, and positive interactions.
• Provide one-on-one behavioral support to children displaying challenging behaviors.
• Collaborate with classroom staff to develop and implement individualized behavior plans.
• Participate in weekly team meetings to review progress and identify new strategies to support children’s success.
• Attend PBIS staff meetings, trainings, and monthly team meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
• Keep PBIS materials and equipment organized and inventoried.
• Communicate regularly with the Mental Health Manager.
• Serve as a positive advocate for Head Start in the community.

• Physical Requirements To ensure success in the classroom environment, candidates must be able to: Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Kneel, stoop, bend, reach, and sit on the floor daily.

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–2:00 PM + 2 additional hour/week (29.5 hours/week) Program Year: August–June Position Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Not Eligible for Benefits

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of paid experience working with preschool-aged children. Behavioral health training and/or experience preferred.
