Description Join Our Team as a Teacher Assistant!

Are you passionate about early childhood education and making a positive difference in the lives of young children? We’re looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Head Start team as Teacher Assistant!

In this essential role, you’ll work alongside a team of educators to create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment where children can grow, explore, and thrive.

  • What You’ll Do Support teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Interact positively with children to promote their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment.
  • Step into the lead role in the teacher’s absence.
  • Communicate daily with parents and staff to support each child’s development.
  • Maintain accurate records such as attendance, assessments, and progress notes.
  • Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies.

  • A Few More Details This is a non-exempt (hourly) position under the supervision of the Education Supervisor.
  • Travel is generally not required but may occasionally occur.

Schedule: Typically Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM during the school year

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • All positions must have experience with young children and their families; such as knowledge of human development, family dynamics and the needs of children. Knowledge of the health, nutrition, social, and educational needs of the young child.
  • Teacher
  • Assistant: Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Obtain a CDA within 24 months of hire. [Starting rate $13.89]
  • Teacher
  • Assistant II: Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and a CDA in Early Childhood Education. [Starting rate $16.50]
  • Teacher
  • Assistant I: Possess an AA in Early Childhood Education. [Starting rate $17.74]
  • Physical
  • Requirements: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Capable of participating in active play and physical activities with children. Must be able to frequently bend, kneel, stoop, sit on the floor, reach overhead, and safely navigate stairs, step stools, and step ladders.
