The SLP will conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students. They will collaborate with educators and parents while documenting progress and participating in IEP meetings.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and possess or be willing to obtain Alaskan State SLP and Teaching licensure. A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is required unless the candidate is a Clinical Fellow (CF).
The Speech Language Pathologist will conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments to identify students' communication disorders and develop individualized treatment plans. Provide evidence-based speech and language pathology interventions and strategies to improve students' communication, articulation, fluency, and language skills. Collaborate closely with educators, parents, and other members of the school-based team to create and implement strategies that support students' participation in the classroom and social activities. Monitor and document students' progress, adapting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes. Offer guidance and education to parents, teachers, and support staff on strategies to enhance students' communication skills and facilitate carryover into the classroom. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including session notes, progress reports, and billing documentation. Stay current with the latest research, best practices, and techniques in speech-language pathology. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, team meetings, and school-based professional development opportunities. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and ethical standards governing speech-language pathology services in schools. Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Alaska or willing to obtain Alaskan Educator Certificate or willing to obtain Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) unless a CF. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Dedication to providing culturally competent and client-centered care.
